The Society’s performance series, the Summer of Change [see 2008-2011], was launched on the summer solstice in 2011, before Adbusters called for the Occupation of Wall Street [OWS]. The series ended on the autumnal equinox marching from a liberated and occupied Zuccotti Park to Wall Street while distributing 10,000 pennies.
The Society was deeply involved in Occupy Wall Street but was never part of OWS’ planning committees during the occupation. However, we were more strategically involved in OWS’ off-shoots that emerged after we were violently eviction from the park.
* Please note that this is not meant to be an overview of OWS. There are numerous publications dedicated to that subject. This portion of the website reflects the experiences of the Aaron Burr Society.
